Well, having read his book and doing my own research, I have no doubt in my mind that the Singularity will happen...the question is not IF..only WHEN.

is this a response to my carrot equations? :)
looks like the word "singularity" has gone very far since being a point in the black hole.
no. i don't believe Singularity with the capital "S" will happen. even if SAI are to come, they will only dream of a world that they cannot grasp (which is always a challenge and they will love challenge as much as we do) - which is our own sensory world. just the same way how we are trying to imagine a world we don't yet and won't understand - the SAI world.
the SAI world and our world will be parallel universes. am i making any sense at all? (nevermind. who cares if none of this make any sense at all...) ;)

The way I see it, it will take only one programmer to design a program that cleverly re-invents itself. Utilizing the infinite rescources of the internet it will learn and evolve at exponetial speed...
